NY YANKEES: The Future Will Have to Wait

The Yankees have announced that their number one pitching prospect Manny Banuelos will undergo Tommy John surgery. The 21 year old left-hander will likely miss all of the 2013 season. Word is that on Thursday Banuelos will be in Florida to have the procedure performed by Dr. James Andrews.

Manny Banuelos
In 2008 the Yankees sign Banuelos as an international free agent. This season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre he was 0-2 with an ERA of 4.50 in six starts before being shut down in May. The club didn't make it official until August and at that time they were calling it a bone bruise. Guess they were keeping that a secret.

Last season he made 27 starts between Triple-A Scranton and Double-A Trenton going 6-7 with an ERA of 3.75. In 129 2/3 innings he compiled 125 strike outs.

It wasn't to long ago when I said this team needs to inject some of it's younger minor league players. Well I guess that's going to have to wait.
