Last
week the Mets announced via twitter that they have resigned backup
catcher Mike Nickeas to a minor league deal with an invitation to
spring training. In a little over 100 at bats last season
Nickeas hit just .174 with 1 homer and 13 RBIs.
· According
to Zach Links of www.mlbtraderumors.com the Mets are
interested at bringing back Andres Torres but only at a reasonable
price. The idea here would be to non-tender Torres and then bring him
back at a more team friendly contract thus avoiding arbitration.

Links of www.mlbtraderumors.com also suggest that with the
recent Red Sox signing of catcher of David Ross the BoSox may look to
move former top catching prospect Jarred Saltalamacchia and suggest
the Mets may look to deal Jon Niese in the a deal. Saltalamacchia
hit 25 homers last year with the Sox.

no news on Wright or Dickey.
· Also
the Mets announced today via twitter that they have hired Jim Malone
as their new strength and conditioning coach.
