According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York's twitter account the New York Mets have re-signed veteran lefty relief pitcher Tim Brydak to a 1 year minor league deal.

To me this is not a sexy move but a necessary one. The Mets needed a veteran lefty to replace Brydak last year after he went down and they didn't have one and who better to replace Brydak than Brydak himself. I know he is coming of surgery but the Mets got him on a very team friendly contract. This was a good job by Alderson and his staff now it's time to get Wright and Dickey an extension!

Brandon Hicks
The New York Mets have agreed to a deal that will net them Oakland A's infielder Brandon Hicks for cash considerations according to the team's twitter account. Hicks hit just .172 with 3 homers in 64 at bats last season with the big club.

It seems to me that this will be a potential depth move here. Some have suggested that Nicks might be brought in to replace Ronny Cedeno who is a free agent. I disagree as I see guys like Turner and Valdespin occupy those spots on the bench. Either way the Mets proved last year that they need depth in the minors at every position and this move should help improve that.
