2013 Mock 2.0 / Post Senior Bowl

1. 
   Kansas City – Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia –“I am the walrus, goo goo g’joob”. Geno moves to the head of the class by default. The Senior Bowl process did not reveal a number 1. THIS PICK WILL BE A QB!

2. 
   Jacksonville – Mike Glennon, QB, N.C. State – Gus Bradley knows he has very little chance with Gabbert or Henne. He can’t wait for the leftovers at 33.

3. 
   Oakland – Star Lotuelei, NT, Utah – The Raiders are a mess in the middle of their D-line. This is no-brainer.

4. 
   Philadelphia – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M – If the Eagles move to the 3-4, perhaps Jones is the pick? I doubt it. The medical risks are too high.

5. 
   Detroit – Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M – The Lions are a pass rush away from the playoffs. The “Silver Surfer” will get a Chrysler commercial.

6. 
   Cleveland – Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan – I doubt Rob Chudzinski will tie his fortunes to Weeden, but this is too early for Manual. Fisher dominated at the Senior Bowl.
   
   

7. 
   Arizona – E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State – A pure athlete. Yes, a bit of a project, but better than trying to resuscitate the offense with Kolb, Hoyer, Lindley, or Skelton. Not to early for Arians!

8. 
   Buffalo – DeMarcus Milliner, CB, Alabama – The top CB in the draft. These guys are rare and Sheldon Brown is a UFA. Marrone will be able to add Ryan Nassib in the 3^rd round after his average Senior Bowl workouts.

9. 
   N.Y. Jets – Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia – Health concerns allow Jones to fall to the Jets. Rex will covet this edge rusher. Are the Jets interested in Nick Foles?
   
   

10. 
    Tennessee- Bjoern Werner, DE/OLB, Florida State – Best player on the board is Werner. Titans may bounce Morgan inside to replace Marks who is a UFA.

11. San Diego – Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee – Philip Rivers is in his prime. Floyd, Meachem, and Royal are no more than complementary guys. The Chargers need a horse!

12. Miami – Johnathan Banks, CB, Mississippi State – The Dolphins traded Davis to the Colts. Banks has first round value and satisfies a need.

13. Tampa Bay – Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon – The Bucs won’t reach for a CB at 13. Adding pressure up front will lessen pressure on the back end (Giants 2011).

14. Carolina –Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State – Dave Gettleman’s first pick as the new Panthers GM will be a cornerstone. Hankins can secure the middle for a decade.

15. New Orleans – Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri – Spags is gone. The Saints are moving to the 3-4. They begin by recasting their defensive personnel and by grabbing this beast.

16. St. Louis – Chance Warmack, G, Alabama – Sam Bradford’s development is the priority. Warmack is a special talent. The Rams can add a WR with the 22^nd pick.

17. Pittsburgh – Jonathan Jenkins, DT, Georgia – Casey Hampton is a UFA and won’t be back. Te’o to the Steelers was a hoax.

18. Dallas– Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU– The focus will be on defense. The “Boys” are converting to a 4-3. Mingo can play standing up or with his hand on the ground.

19. N.Y. Giants – Alec Olgetree, ILB, Georgia – The greatest immediate need is a CB. Priority number 1 is stopping the run. Jerry always remains disciplined. Ogletree is a 3 down LB.

20. Chicago – Manti Te’o – Urlacher and Roach are UFAs. Urlacher will join Ray Lewis into the HOF. Roach won’t be back. Te’o will start inside McClellin and Briggs. Marc Trestman will add some offense bells and whistles in the later rounds.

21. Cincinnati – Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU – The run on 1^st round ILBs continues. Minter will replace Maualuga who is a UFA.

22. St. Louis (from Washington) – Keenan Allen, WR, California – Gibson, Amendola, and Smith are UFAs. Perhaps, all won’t be back. Quick is developing slowly.

23. Minnesota – Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia– The Viking offense is over-dependent on a diminishing return. Even an MVP can’t carry that load without wearing down. Ponder must develop and Percy Harvin’s status is a question mark.

24. Indianapolis – Ezekiel Ansah, DE/OLB, BYU – Mathis and Freeney need to be cycled soon. Ansah has amazing upside, but the Colts know they will be getting a project.

25. Seattle – Datone Jones, DE, UCLA – Pete is intimate with the college attack. He is less concerned with traditional defensive positioning. Jones has game speed, and can splash in situational flex schemes.

26. Green Bay – Barrett Jones, C, Alabama – Jeff Saturday has announced his retirement. Jones can fill any need along the OL. Packers stay solid at 26.

27. Houston – Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas – Texans won’t reach. Vaccaro is the best safety in the draft.

28. Denver – Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma – The whole thing rests on Peyton remaining upright. Johnson’s workout at the Senior Bowl moved him into the 1^st round.

29. New England – Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee – Opposing defenses are packing it in. Hunter’s size and speed will help change that. Welker and Branch are UFAs.

30. Atlanta –Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame – Tony Gonzalez has had a HOF career. This is a good slot to select his replacement.

31. Baltimore – Kawann Short, DT, Purdue – Added to Ray Lewis retiring, 3 other defensive starters and 5 defensive backups are UFAs. Ed Reed is no longer a force and nearing the end of a great career. The Ravens need a complete rebuild on defense. If they can, they will trade down to add picks, like they did last year.

32. San Francisco – DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson – Randy Moss won’t be back. Manningham, coming off an ACL, may not be back. Jenkins’s development is disappointing.
