The Big Ragu - Follow Up - NY Yankees

Russell Branyan
OK the winds are swirling about the AJ Burnett deal to the Pirates. So I guess I'll get caught in the wind myself. Like I said. Can't see it. AJ makes to much money....The Pirates ? They don't have any money !! Maybe, Maybe !! If the Yanks pay more than half of the $ 32 plus million he's owed the next 2 years. And for who ? Garrett Jones and 4 prospects ?  Don't get me wrong, Jones is a decent player but they don't need another left handed hitting outfielder/first baseman. Uhh ? didn't they just sign Russell Branyan ? Yes. So that will put an end to the Johnny Damon, Raul Ibanez rumors. I could be wrong maybe it will happen but to me it's just fodder to sell papers, check web sites, watch TV and hmmmmm, read this blog.

You can never have enough pitching....good or bad.

Kuroda
I worry about pitchers staying healthy. Is CC going to be over worked ? Can Pineda handle NY ? Can Nova repeat last year ? Hughes starter or bullpen ? Kuroda ? 1 year $ 10 million for a guy who just turned 37 the other day. Sure he pitched well for LA but that's the little boys league. Now he playing in the Mens League. The AL East. So like I said you can never have enough pitching.

Stay tuned for my pitchers and catchers spring training reports. Coming real soon opening day roster and 2012 predictions...Go Yankess !!

I cant wait for The Big Ragus future Analysis on the 2012 season

Montero is a stud. They shouldn't have traded him.

Yes he is a stud. But you have to give up something good to get something good in return. I give the Yankees the edge on the deal so far. Even though Pineda's second half wasn't as good as his first, he has a larger (not by much) sample of work then Montero. I feel once Montero gets around the league more, good pitchers will find holes in his swing. It was a little loopy for me. Plus I don't think the Yankees thought much of him defensively. CC could use some support. Also stayed for analysis.

I need the "Big Ragu's" thoughts on A-Rod this season. He says he cant wait for Spring training, and he feels great. Do you think he will ever get back to the levels of 30+ homers and 100+ RBIs, which He did for 13 straight seasons before his streak ended in 2011??? I don't think it's out of the question as long he can stay on the field for 120-130 games, what do you think??. AND, does the "Big Ragu" feel that 2007 MVP season, when he played 158 games, hit 54 homers and drove in 156 runs, is probably a thing of the past??????.

Every player in February says he can't wait for spring training. I can't wait and I don't even play. I think he should be able to reach 30 and 100. But I won't expect to much more than that. He's older now. The key is he has to stay healthy. Even if he doesn't go on the DL I don't see him playing everyday, especially at 3rd base. He'll get time there but he will also get time off to rest and to give some others playing time. Look for him to DH quite a bit. 54 and 158 ? No that's a thing of the past. But it would be nice if he proved me wrong !!
